Wash and Care Policy for Aunty’s Shop: Mekhela Chadar and Sarees

At Aunty’s Shop, we take great pride in the craftsmanship and quality of our Mekhela Chadars and Sarees. To ensure the longevity and beauty of your garments, please follow these detailed wash and care instructions.
General Care Tips:
Avoid Direct Sunlight:
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading. Store your garments in a cool, shaded place.
Separate Colors: Always wash light-colored garments separately from dark-colored ones to prevent color bleeding.
Use a Garment Bag: When storing your Mekhela Chadars and Sarees, use a breathable garment bag to protect them from dust and insects.
Hand-Dyed and Embroidered Mekhela Chadars: Dry Cleaning Recommended: For the first few washes, we highly recommend dry cleaning to preserve the vibrant colors and intricate embroidery.
Hand Wash Instructions:
Use cold water and a mild detergent.
Gently wash the garment without scrubbing or wringing.
Rinse thoroughly in cold water.
Lay flat to dry in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight.
Silk Mekhela Chadars and Sarees:
Dry Clean Only:
Due to the delicate nature of silk, we recommend dry cleaning to maintain its sheen and texture.
Avoid Water Exposure: Silk is sensitive to water, so avoid getting the garment wet.
Ironing: Use a low-heat setting and iron on the reverse side with a cloth placed between the iron and the fabric.
Cotton and Linen Mekhela Chadars and Sarees:
Hand Wash or Gentle Machine Wash:
Use cold water and a mild detergent.
If using a machine, select the gentle cycle.
Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals.
Drying: Hang to dry in a shaded area, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent color fading.
Ironing: Use a medium-heat setting and iron on the reverse side.
Maintenance and Storage:
Airing
: Regularly air out your Mekhela Chadars and Sarees to keep them fresh.
Avoid Moth Damage: Place cedar blocks or lavender sachets in your storage area to repel moths.
Folding: Fold your garments carefully to avoid creases. For heavily embroidered pieces, place a piece of tissue paper between folds to
protect the embroidery.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your Mekhela Chadars and Sarees from Aunty’s Shop remain beautiful and in pristine condition for years to come. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team
